Tiderays release new single and video
Dumfries band Tiderays have released a brand new single and music video.
‘The Anchor’ is the band’s second single release, and they released their EP ‘Stay’ last year.
The band – made up of Eddie Oakes, Liam Russell, Robbie Huxtable and Trevor Newport – will officially launch the single at a special gig at The Venue on Friday 27th of July 2018. They’ll be joined by local acts Kasama and Taagan.
The release of ‘The Anchor’ has arrived at the mid-point of a very busy year for Tiderays. Since the beginning of the year they have performed at Gatehouse’s Midsummer Music Festival as well as the Help Musicians UK gig at The Stove, all whilst recording new material. The band are due to play the Carlisle Fringe and then popular Cumbrian festival Solfest next month.
The music video for ‘The Anchor’ was shot by Ruari Barber-Fleming, a local music videographer and photographer (Ruari took the photos in our recent VanIves review). The video has a very rural, almost ‘Wickerman’ style look to it, combining waves of strong emotion with calmer shots. It matches perfectly with the journey of the song. It was shot in Dumfries and Galloway at locations including Powillimount and the Crichton.
Tiderays dummer, Trevor Newport, explained, “This is the culmination of a lot of hard work and patience. We were thrilled to get to work with Rod Jones from Idlewild as they were a massive influence on Eddie growing up. Having a producer of such calibre and experience helping us define our sound is something we can use going forward. We’re so excited to share this finally and get our first true Tiderays track out to everyone.”
