Our top gig picks for Halloween 2018!
Oooooh it’s nearly Halloween!
We’ll forgive you if you had forgotten what time of year it is, what with the absolute influx of Christmas decorations that seems to have descended onto every flipping’ retail outlet that Dumfries and Galloway has to offer. We were expecting a sea of pumpkins – instead all we’re seeing is an abundance of glittery Santa’s. It’s just way too early and we cannot cope with all this festivity.
Anyhoo, Halloween is always a busy weekend for gigs so we have given you our top 4, but there are tons more happening if none of these float your boat. Also, Halloween falls on a Wednesday next week so you’ll get away with dressing up this weekend! YASSS!
1. Friday 26th – Saturday 27th:
Easy Skankin Crew presents Skalloween 2018 at the Dumfries Labour Club, Lochside
Those Easy Skankin’ boys know how to party. They’re putting on a Friday evening of ska followed by a whole Saturday of it with loads of live bands and DJs. Friday’s warm up party starts at 7pm until 1am. There’s a full day of it on the Saturday from 1pm until 1am with live music from Sarah Collins and Keep the Faith Northern Soul Band, The DekkerTones, Big 10, Mr Skabretta, Urang Matang, The Df118s, The Velvitones, The Skatuesques, and the AC30s. There will be loads of DJs too. Wowzers.
Tickets are £25 but all drinks are £3. So that’s a cheap night oot if you’re on the beers. Check out their Facebook event here for further details and information on where to buy tickets.
2. Friday 26th:
Electric Swing Circus at The Craigdarroch Hotel, Moniaive
Eden Festival faves The Electric Swing Circus is a live six-piece fusion of classy ‘20s swing and stomping electro beats. They’re coming to Moniaive to shake things up a bit and you can be a part of it if you buy a ticket for £12 and get ready for an 8.30pm start. There’s a common misconception that Moniaive is a sleepy wee village where nothing much happens. In reality, that’s far from the truth and they actually get loads of great acts playing there, as we can see from this gig!
You can take a look at the Facebook event here.
3. Saturday 27th:
Station Halloween All Dayer at the Station House, Annan
Oh we do love the All Dayers at the Station! Kicking off at 12noon until close at 1am, there will be live music from no less than 13 different acts and there will no doubt be more than 13 awesome Halloween costumes. The acts are always fantastic, and this one will be no different. Take a look at their gig poster, have a listen to them on Spotify and be prepared to be very impressed. AND THE WHOLE THING IS FREE. Can you actually believe that? And it’s literally a 5 second walk from the train station platform. We definitely think you should go. If you don’t enjoy it, you can blame us. All the stage times are on the Facebook event here.
4. Saturday 27th:
The Zeebos Halloween! at Greens Sports Bar, Dumfries
The very awesome rock-style-covers band The Zeebos are back for a rare outing, especially for Halloween. Their costumes are always great and their singer has just had a wee eye operation so we’re expecting a pirate theme this year. Actually, we’ve no evidence of this and he probably won’t be even wearing an eye patch at all. They’re on at 9pm (or will it actually be 9.30pm? Who knows! Bet they don’t know either) and it’s totally free. Maybe go as a pirate just in case.
See if any of your pals are going by looking at the Facebook event here.
If you’re not too fussed about any of these amazing gigs, then you can take a look at the Gig Listings page for all the gigs happening around the region.
Happy Halloween weekend everyone!
