North Atlas release debut EP
Dumfries and Galloway three-piece North Atlas have released their highly anticipated debut EP, ‘A Weight For The Heavy Handed’.
Described as an immersive masterpiece that celebrates their alliance with award winning producer Dan Weller (Enter Shikari, Holding Absence), the EP contains six tracks of equally dark and epic proportions. It showcases their ability to fill the void between popular favourites such as Biffy Clyro, Bring Me the Horizon and Nine Inch Nails.
In the wake of previous popular singles, House Of Mirrors, Midnight Sun and Ire, North Atlas have also released a video of one of the EP’s tracks entitled ‘Rain Check’ (which you can watch below).
Leon Hunter, lead singer of North Atlas, said “A Weight for the Heavy Handed, it’s a weird title, but I wanted to sum up as clearly as I could what the songs mean to me; I guess I can be heavy handed in the sense that I can be very hard on myself, and I think being truthful in the lyrics of these songs was the weight that kept me going off the rails.’
‘We grew up in a wild and rural part of Scotland with ties to Pre-Christian traditions, so the EP is laden with imagery and energy from our roots. The cover art is a representation of the Scottish ‘Burryman’ which is worth a Google if you’re feeling brave.”
Having continuously gone from strength to strength over what is arguably one of the most difficult periods of time to attempt to develop as a new rock band, North Atlas have already made a name for themselves amongst artists, industry and media alike.
Having been a part of Primordial Radio’s AGM and supporting Enter Shikari at Glasgow’s QMU, the band have received an incredible reception at the live shows and have further dates in the pipeline to be announced for 2022. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for more information coming soon.
