Music 4 Meningitis 2017 Announces Full Line-up
Music 4 Meningitis organiser Chris Marsh has announced the finalised line-up for this year’s event, and it features some renowned national and local musicians.
Taking place at The Venue in Dumfries, John Power and Jay Lewis of Britpop sensations Cast will be joining local acts Barstow Bats, The Lutras, The Stefan and Mark It Zero for an evening which will raise money for three charities – the Meningitis Research Foundation, Cash for Kids and The Music Room.
This will be the 4th year for Music 4 Meningitis which began life expecting to be a one-off event to mark Chris Marsh’s 40th birthday. Proving to be a huge success, Chris decided to continue it and has raised in the region of £5,000 for charities including Cash For Kids, the Scottish Huntingdon’s Association and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was well as the Meningitis Research Foundation.
Excitement is already gathering for those keen to catch John and Jay from Cast and this will surely stir up memories of the Britpop era for many in the audience. Barstow Bats have taken things up to the next level recently, releasing their well received album, Lyver Riots, with a successful album launch gig under their belts as well as several festival slots. The Lutras continue to go from strength to strength and have been spending a lot of the time in the studio lately recording material. The Stefan will be appearing with Jo Blain for the first time and Mark It Zero will feature long-time local legend Davie Jardine (ex-Twister and The Jellys).
Chris explained, “This years Music 4 Meningitis will mark the fourth year we have be going, and an amazing amount of money has been raised as well as raising awareness for the various charities. I am delighted to have secured John Power and Jay Lewis from Cast; it’s taken two years and it really is a coup for all music fans in the region. We also have amazing and continued support from local bands, without them it would be impossible to stage the gig. We are also well supported by local businesses, press, The Venue and SW Audio which is really appreciated. So hopefully people can get along and support the gig and helping out the worthwhile causes and enjoying some amazing talented bands.”
The gig will take place on Saturday 18th March 2017 at The Venue in Dumfries. Tickets are priced at £12.50 and doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets are available at the Midsteeple Box Office in Dumfries, on Ticketweb (ticket fee will be applicable) or on the door on the night.
