We’re thrilled to add alternative rock band Alloway to our list of Band Profiles.
Predominately based in Glasgow, Alloway only launched themselves at the beginning of year.
Despite their relative newness, they’ve already gathered themselves a small army of fans. They’ve played to a sold-out crowd at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut and will return to the legendary venue later this month to play a headline show as part of King Tut’s Summer Nights 2018.
The band have released two singles to date; their debut single ‘East Wing’ was followed by ‘Lonely Bones’ at the end of June. They’ve also already gained positive airplay on Jim Gellatly’s show on Amazing Radio.
Created after singer Grant posted an advert appealing for band members, the 5-piece band is made up of Grant Alexander (vocals and rhythm guitar), Steve Crichton (drums), Ben Walker (bass) and twin brothers Ryan and Conor Wilson (both guitar).
Drummer Steve Crichton hails from Annan, and has since returned to his hometown after living in Ayr.
Steve explained, “Performing and writing music has been my life. Ever since my previous band Upon the Moor became inactive back in 2014 I never thought I’d find the same group of individuals I could bounce ideas off, share musical interests with or grow as an artist till I met my Alloway brothers. My plan was to always to be involved with music whether that be organising music events myself or working with other fantastic musicians, helping in any way I can but I absolutely didn’t see myself back behind a drum kit doing what I do best. Having never met they guys before, it still makes me smile thinking we have grown and bonded through our shared love and passion for music. I’m incredibly excited for the future with Alloway and hope we continue to improve, grow and make some jaws drop along the way!“.
Small Town Sounds saw them perform live at the Station Easter Weekender in Annan earlier this year and was impressed by their sound. In fact, if we didn’t know better, we’d have said they had been on the scene for much longer than just a few months. It’s clear that performing at venues in Glasgow, and Aberdeen has given them the confidence to take on new crowds with ease.
Alloway will play at the King Tut’s Summer Nights on Wednesday the 25th of July 2018, with support from Take Today, Stop The Rain and Royal Bloom. You can read their full Band Profile here. You can listen to their latest single, ‘Lonely Bones’s below.
