Electric Fields 2015: In Photos
After months of reading about Electric Fields all over social media, in the newspapers and on banners around Dumfries, the event itself finally arrived last Saturday, taking place in the very picturesque grounds of Drumlanrig Castle.
After a pretty horrific week weather-wise, the sun made a welcome appearance for the festival go-ers who were there to see the likes of headliner King Creosote, alongside so many others including Vessels, Hector Bizerk, The Twilight Sad, Fat Goth, The Xcerts and local bands Finding Albert, Barstow Bats, Cammy Black and What About Wolves. There was no denying that this year’s line-up was full and varied.
Unfortunately I couldn’t make it this year, so instead of a full review, I gathered a few quotes from those who went along. And here they are:
“Møgen was amazing, my favourite and a definite “must see”. Had an awesome day. The EF boys did spot on.” – Rachael Doige
“Brilliantly organised wee festival. Site looked great and smashing line up. Highlight for me were Hector Bizerk (after us obviously!), who put on a great show as usual. And given the summer we’ve had the weather wasn’t bad either!” – Andrew Rendall (Barstow Bats)
“A festival that is quickly establishing itself as THE place to see the finest talent that the Scottish music scene has to offer. Friendly, well organised, stunning setting and a line-up that has something for everyone, Electric Fields is somewhere that everyone who loves music should go to – they will not be disappointed” – Ricky Henderson
“Really nice laid back feel to the event. I liked the way all the eateries were in one row, so you didn’t have to go from one side of the site to the other to decide what to eat. Liked the amount of seats available, given my mobility problems! Could have done with some more playlists or a noticeboard of some sort, showing running orders. All in all a really great day! I know from experience that putting on an event like that ain’t easy!” – Anne Weight
Ricky Henderson also took some pretty amazing photos of Barstow Bats, Finding Albert, Fat Goth, Outblinker, United Fruit, The Twilight Sad and Vessels and they’re all below, especially for your viewing pleasure.
So, as the dust settles and everyone begins to recover from the last local festival of the summer, we can only wonder what 2016 will bring us…and I, for one, can’t wait to find out!
