Double Down Disco brings Studio 54 to Dumfries

DJ-duo Double Down Disco are bringing New York’s Studio 54 to Dumfries next month.

Double Down DiscoLE FREAK! will feature a private screening of the critically acclaimed and newly released ‘Studio 54: A Documentary Film’ at the RBC Film Theatre in Dumfries. The film showing will then be followed by a guided tour by special guests Maddjakallss to the Liquid Lounge for a 5-hour Studio 54 disco after party. The music policy on the night will be ‘proper disco, house, boogie and jazzy vibes’.

The event is now a complete sell-out. LE FREAK! will take place on Saturday the 18th of August 2018

The night is being hosted by Dumfries-based DJ duo Double Down Disco, made up of Lewis Boddy and Les Ross. Despite the act itself being newly formed, Lewis and Les have over 15 years combined experience of DJing and organising events.

They recently played two separate DJ sets at Eden Festival, and will be appearing at this weekend’s Soul Night at the Cairndale Hotel. In addition, they have recently been awarded the sound work commission to celebrate Rosefield Mills at this year’s Nithraid Festival.

The start of things to come…

LE FREAK! is just the first event of many more to come – they are keen to start throwing curated and specialist themed parties in Dumfries that have a different sound, feel and vibe to the usual club nights on offer.
Lewis explained, “Les and I share a love for American dance music culture, especially what came out of the New York scene in the late ’70s and early ’80s. Places like The Loft, Paradise Garage and The Gallery, and pioneers such as Nicky Siano, David Mancuso and Larry Levan influence us greatly when trying to create an event for Double Down Disco. We feel it’s really important to cater for the people who come to our events and ensure that each event needs to be planned so it’s a multi-sensory experience which people can experience and remember. We just want to see people have a good time, dance to some good music and feel love in a room full of like-minded individuals.”
If you were lucky enough to get a ticket before they sold out, you can check out the Facebook event for LE FREAK! here. If you weren’t, keep an eye out for more Double Down Disco events in the near future.
