D&G’s love and community are making Pride happen
The first PRIDE event for D&G in 10 years will take place in Dumfries this Saturday.
The acts will perform on the Planestanes from 12pm, starting with a local lip syncing drag act, Devine Tension. The atmosphere will then be softened through the lovely sounds of local acoustic solo artist Liv McDougall. Local duo Ward and Watson will also be performing.
Headliner acts for the day have been scooped from the UK circuit and include the outstanding vocals of solo artist Channy and Smashby for the young up and coming queer community, and the finale artists Ross Alexander (who appeared on X Factor two weeks ago) and the impressive and beautiful Danny Beard, winner of Drag Idol and is also a Britain’s Got Talent runner up.
There will be a Pride Village where a selection of alcohol will be served by sassy sash wearing drinks servers. The village is outside the partner venue, The Stove, where you can go in for a more safe, quiet space to enjoy the Art Exhibit, try and guess the LGBTQIA flags, transform your make-up or glitter, and watch what’s going on in the village from the windows.
Pride Village has a variety of services and groups who support the LGBTQIA community scattered around the zone, offering information and advice.
Sister venue The Globe will also be hosting a special ‘Out at the Globe’ music night from 5pm until late. After that, some of the community will be attending the sold out after show party, Queer Haggis, followed by a Lip Sync competition at the Theatre Royal.
