Jazz scene in Dumfries & Galloway
Although it’s been several years since Dumfries Jazz Club held their regular club nights in town, there has still been a keen interest in the jazz scene in Dumfries and Galloway. Local bands such as the Strumsum Blues Band have continued to perform live across the length and breadth of the region (and beyond).
Fraser Milligan of the Strumsum Blues Band has been instrumental in seeing the return of this major new event in his hometown of Dumfries and together with Katy Clachan (Ayr Jazz Club and Stranraer Jazz Festival) and Mike Daly (Dixieland Rhythm Kings), they have collectively come up with this fantastic line-up.
The Cairndale Hotel has agreed to host future events if this one proves to be a success.
Weekend passes are now available priced at £60, and jazz enthusiasts can also purchase tickets for individual days. Special deals are available including dinner, bed and breakfast.
