Name of band: The Strumsum Blues Band
Fraser Milligan (guitar, vocals)
Lindsay Henderson (lead guitar)
Fraser Clark (keyboard/piano)
Jack Anderson (bass)
Mike Clark (drums)
We would describe our music as… blues music from the 1930s to the present day, including songs by Robert Johnson, Jimmy Reed, Elmore James, Buddy Guy, Peter Green, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, Bessie Smith, Washboard Sam and The Rolling Stones.
The tunes are all delivered in their own particular rhythmic foot tapping style and freedom that gives the talent in the band time to show their musical abilities with drive and enthusiasm. This Dumfries-based band has built a following of loyal fans with gigs in Glasgow, Stranraer and Cumbria as well as Dumfries area with appearances at Maryport Blues Festival, Carlisle Jazz Club, Moffat Jazz & Blues Club, Eden Festival, Lockerbie Jazz Festival, The Portpatrick Jazz & Blues Fest and Parkgate Blue Fest. They were joint winners of the Big Burns Supper Festival Music Award.
They also perform their set as a three piece band for more intimate venues with two guitars, bass and vocals playing numbers in their set as an almost acoustic sound.
