Name of Band: Frozen Shores
Location: Dumfries & Galloway
Members: Ruari Barber-Fleming
I would describe my music as… Ambient Indie Rock
Background information… Frozen Shores is an independent songwriter and producer hailing from Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. He began this venture in 2017 and has since released two singles; “Blinded” and “Blood Box”. He has played numerous prestigious shows, including Solfest in Cumbria and the Dumfries Music Conference showcase event. His music is passionately ambient and fraught with emotive lyrics and has been described as, “absolutely stunning” (Charlie Ashcroft, BT Music / Amazing Radio).
His live shows are unique in their collaborative quality as he works closely with a host of other local professional musicians to achieve the best performance possible. Frozen Shores’ releases are somewhat reminiscent of artists such as Bon Iver and Jeff Buckley with his vocal delivery being decribed as, “gently drifting in and out of luscious falsetto”. In terms of plans for the future, he intends to continue his, “obvious and personal love affair with music” (Get to the Chorus) and maintain his song-writing productivity, with upcoming shows being played with the backing of a equally as passionate band.
Plans for 2019
Speaking of his plans for 2019, Ruari told us: “In early 2019 I’ll be releasing my album “Haven”. This album was written and recorded over 6 months in 2018. During early 2018 I took part in an internship at Circa 16 Sound Recording with Dave Miller, through the CatStrand. I was learning so many new engineering and production techniques and had a bunch of songs written so I began to channel this into the creation of this album. I don’t have any up and coming gigs solidified but will take things as they come. I’m planning on working more with Circa 16 Sound Recording along with many other artists throughout the year. As long as I keep writing and putting out content I’ll be pretty chuffed and if anything comes of it that’s just a bonus!”
